Melissa Greene and the team at Lunaluxe first showed off their floral talents at Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE, Hudson Yards 2024. Since then, they've dazzled thousands of visitors at Hudson Yards and Long Island's Americana Manhasset with their imaginative and technically-strong floral creations.

WHAT FIRST SPARKED YOUR PASSION FOR FLORAL DESIGN?

As a child working in my father’s gardens, it’s definitely where I felt peace and where I saw my father’s creativity show. However, the love of flowers and plants came from traveling to

St. Lucia as a child, which is where my parents were born. The island's lush landscapes, vibrant flora and rich culture painted my childhood. Just walking through the island's rainforest with my grandmother to find the river…I can’t replace that ever.

HAS YOUR FLEURS DE VILLES EXPERIENCE INFLUENCED YOUR APPROACH TO FLORAL DESIGN IN OTHER ASPECTS OF YOUR BUSINESS?

It has given us more freedom to express and create art using flowers. Additionally, we are fully embracing sustainability and incorporating these practices into every event we manage.

WHO INSPIRES YOU FROM THE WORLDS OF ART, FASHION, ENTERTAINMENT OR DESIGN?

My background is in Fine Art, where I initially focused on photography. I draw inspiration from a wide range of artistic outlets and creators. A few of my favorite artists include Gordon Parks, Richard Avedon, Kara Walker, Georgia O’Keeffe, Bisa Butler, Mickalene Thomas, Brigette Romanek and Peter Marino.

IF YOU COULD CREATE YOUR DREAM GARDEN, WHAT TYPES OF FLOWERS AND PLANTS WOULD YOU INCLUDE, AND WHY?

I greatly admire the design of English gardens and their blend of formal structures, like boxwood hedges and stone paths, with the romantic abundance of roses, hydrangeas, and foxgloves. The combination of architectural elements like picket fences and trellises with naturalistic planting creates a balance I hope to replicate in my own garden one day. Maximalism at its finest!

IF YOU COULD ATTEND A FLORAL FESTIVAL OR BOTANICAL GARDEN ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

I would love to visit Singapore Botanic Gardens, they have one of the largest collections of Orchids, my favorite flower.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE FLOWER-RELATED QUOTE OR SAYING THAT RESONATES WITH YOU?

“A flower does not think of competing with the flowers next to it, it just blooms” – Zen Shin

DO YOU HAVE ANY PREDICTIONS FOR 2026 FLORAL TRENDS?

For 2026 weddings we will see more texture and an increase of sculptural installations, even on tables. One of my favourites is the sunken meadows between tables, and the trend of having fruits and flowers will carry over from 2025.

A NOTE FROM FLEURS DE VILLES:

Lunaluxe have a style that is both luxe and visionary. The Downton Abbey mannequin bringing beloved Sybil Crawley to life was both imaginative and a work of art. Every detail of her clothing was depicted with perfectly placed bleached ruscus and a skirt with layers of fantastic roses, orchids and more. Those same deep, rich red tones were on full display in the jawdropping storefront display for Wolford at Americana Manhasset. Every visitor agreed this window was a fabulous mix of local mums and exotic anthurium, amaranthus to the hip pampas….it had it all!
